EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a research-backed therapy approach that helps you process and heal from painful memories, beliefs, and emotions that keep you feeling stuck. It works by helping your brain reframe past experiences so they no longer hold power over your present.
EYE MOVEMENT DESENSITIZATION & REPROCESSING (EMDR)
Challenges EMDR Can Help You Overcome
Recovering From Abuse
EMDR can help you process the trauma of physical, emotional, or narcissistic abuse, allowing you to regain your sense of self, find peace, and learn to rebuild trust in yourself and others.
Letting Go of Childhood Wounds
EMDR can help process childhood pain—even when the memories are unclear but the feelings remain—freeing you from the lingering effects of the past.
Finding Peace with Money
Struggles with budgeting, debt, or financial uncertainty can weigh heavily. EMDR helps untangle the stress and fear around money, freeing you to make clear and confident decisions.
Healing After an Accident
Whether it’s a car crash, a fall, or another unexpected event, accidents can leave emotional scars that linger long after physical wounds heal. EMDR can help you process the fear and anxiety so you can feel safe and empowered moving forward.
Navigating the Pain of Grief
Whether it’s the loss of a loved one, a pet, or even an opportunity, EMDR can gently guide you through the waves of grief, helping you find comfort and healing.
Rebuilding Self Confidence
Feelings of failure can take a toll on your self-esteem. With EMDR you will identify and release the negative beliefs holding you back, helping you rediscover your worth and confidence.

How EMDR Works
a step-by-step outline
-
What Happens?
We’ll begin by discussing the specific memories, thoughts, or emotions that feel overwhelming or keep you stuck. Together, we’ll identify a target for EMDR—something that’s holding you back from feeling your best. Why It’s Important:
This step creates clarity and focus, ensuring we’re addressing the issues that matter most to you. -
What Happens?
Before diving into EMDR, I’ll guide you through relaxation and grounding techniques. These tools help you feel safe and in control throughout the process. Why It’s Important:
Building a sense of security is key to making EMDR a positive, empowering experience. -
What Happens?
Using guided techniques like tapping or audio tones, we’ll activate your brain’s natural ability to process and reframe memories. During this step, I’ll gently guide you as you revisit the target memory or emotion. Why It’s Important:
This process helps your brain "unstick" painful memories and reframe them so they no longer feel as overwhelming or intrusive. -
What Happens?
As the session progresses, you may notice shifts in how you feel about the target memory or issue. The negative emotions tied to it—like fear, shame, or guilt—start to fade, replaced by a sense of calm or resolution. Why It’s Important:
This step allows your brain to integrate the experience in a healthier way, giving you a new perspective and emotional relief. -
What Happens?
Once the distress tied to the memory or issue is reduced, we’ll work together to reinforce positive beliefs about yourself, such as “I am safe,” “I am capable,” or “I am enough.”Why It’s Important:
This step helps you replace old, limiting beliefs with empowering ones, creating a stronger foundation for future growth. -
What Happens?
We’ll take time to ensure you feel grounded and calm before moving forward with the next steps you choose. I’ll provide tools and exercises to help you maintain the progress you’ve made. Why It’s Important:
Ending with grounding ensures you leave the session feeling steady and supported as you move forward.
EMDR sessions are 80 minutes and cost $250 per session. To experience meaningful progress with EMDR, clients are asked to commit to a minimum of five 80-minute therapy sessions to be completed within 12 weeks.
