Clinical Supervision Summit: Finding Their Voice: Supporting Supervisees in Developing Practice Style, Preferred Clients, and Professional Confidence

Clinicians enter supervision eager to build skills, but professional identity development often receives less attention than technical competence. Without intentional support in this area, supervisees may struggle with burnout, role confusion, or difficulty finding their place in the field.

This workshop equips supervisors with strategies to help clinicians-in-training move beyond task-focused learning toward deeper professional reflection. Participants will explore ways to guide supervisees in identifying their preferred practice approaches, clarifying their ideal client populations, and building authentic therapeutic relationships from this foundation. Drawing on my experience directing Our Therapy Lab, a student-run clinic, I will share practical supervision structures, reflection prompts, and case examples that support supervisees in developing a confident, grounded, and values-driven professional identity.
