Frequently Asked Questions

Whether you’re new to therapy or just new to working with me, it’s normal to have questions. Below, you’ll find answers about session logistics, payment, scheduling, and what to expect. I provide private pay therapy in Indianapolis and virtual care across Indiana and Tennessee, with a focus on inclusive, affirming, and results-driven support.

  • No. I am a private pay, out-of-network therapist. This means I do not bill insurance directly, but I can provide you with a monthly superbill—a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurance provider to request possible reimbursement. Clients are responsible for payment at the time of service.

  • I understand that not accepting insurance can be a barrier for some — and I don’t take that lightly. The reality is that working with insurance often means compromising on the length, style, and even goals of therapy. Insurance companies may require a mental health diagnosis, limit the number of sessions, or deny coverage based on criteria that don’t reflect your lived experience.

Choosing not to work with insurance allows me to offer care that’s individualized, private, and aligned with your actual needs — not dictated by a third party. It also helps protect your confidentiality and gives us the flexibility to focus on what matters most to you, at a pace that feels right.

While I can’t solve the systemic barriers in our healthcare system, I also believe the weight of those broken systems shouldn’t fall entirely on therapists — especially those of us providing affirming, equity-focused care. I do my best to increase access by offering limited sliding scale spots and providing superbills for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
